It would be nice to keep today's weather straight through the weekend. But that is not going to happen. It will be suun, warm and pleasant today with highs around 80 degrees. A few clouds will move in tonight as temperatures fall back through the 60s and 50s.
Yesterday's cold front has become stationary over southside Virginia and it stretches westward through and beyond the Appalachians.High pressure is building off the New England Coast. That atmospheric set-up will be the basis of our less than ideal weekend forecast. Winds will be from the east and southeast. This will bring in cooler, more moisture-laden air. This will interact with the stalled out cold front south of Washington.
Saturday will feature some sunshine early but more clouds during the day with a 30% chance of afternoon showers. Sunday, it appears, will be cloudy and cooler with periods of rain likely. This is one of those times when I hope my forecast is all wrong.
