For the third day in a row, cloudy and hazy weather is widespread across the area. And for the third day in a row, skies will become partly sunny with temperatures climbing into the 80s. Scattered thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, especially west of Washington. During the day tomorrow, as a cold front approaches, skies will become mostly cloudy. By late tomorrow afternoon, showers and thunderstorms will become likely. And on Friday, chilly high pressure will start building into the region with partly cloudy and breezy conditions. There may be a few sprinkles and temperatures may get no higher than 70 degrees.
For the Memorial Day Weekend...I am starting to get a feeling, in the pit of my stomach, weather conditions may not be quite as pleasant as previuosly thought. With strong high pressure in control on Saturday, skies will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower 70s. On Sunday, clouds may increase during the afternnon or evening with highs remaining below average. And then on Monday, Memorial Day, I don't know what is going to happen weather-wise. Our official forecast is for partly cloudy skies with highs in the middle 70s. But I think there is a significant chance skies will be cloudy with a chance of showers. I am hopeful future computer model runs will converge on a soution, so we are able to give you a more confident forecast for Monday. After all, as Bob Ryan has said a zillion times, this is all about empowering our viewers to make good decisions based on our best forecast. And that we shall do.
