After a Saturday that got increasingly more humid and featured periods of heavy rain, today will not be all that different! Yesterday's dew points were back near the 70 degree uncomfortable threshold as the high reached 86 at Reagan National. DCA also recorded almost a quarter inch of rain while Dulles had just under an inch.
With a moist southerly flow still influencing the region and a cold front moving toward the mid-Atlantic, look for scattered showers this morning and thunderstorm development this afternoon. With so much liquid in the air, the gully washing heavy rains of yesterday could be repeated today. Highs today should be in the low to mid 80s; already at three consecutive days of below average temperatures - the longest such period this month - today could be a fourth cooler than normal day.
In the wake of today's showers and cold front passage, skies will start to clear later tonight. Our reward will be two very comfortable summer days with mostly sunny skies and low humidity on Monday and Tuesday. New disturbances will arrive at midweek, bringing back slightly warmer temperatures, more humidity, and yes, more showers. Enjoy your Sunday!
