An elongated area of low pressure continues over our area. As this “trough” interacts with the very warm and humid air mass, showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue to develop. It will remain very warm and muggy tonight and more showers and thunderstorms will cross the mountains and more into parts of our area. Tomorrow will feature the arrival of a cold front. As the front encounters this very warm and humid air mass, showers and thunderstorms will become likely. Some could be very heavy.
Behind the front, drier air will briefly build into the region. In fact, Friday and Saturday will be partly to mostly sunny with comfortable humidity levels and highs in the middle 80s. By Sunday, the cold front, which willl be along the VA/NC border, may start drifting back north as a warm front. This will return warmer and more humid air to the region with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.
