Half way there! Our heat wave is peaking today and tomorrow with gradual waning late week and into the weekend. High pressure now sitting in the Midwest putting a “hot weather dome” upon us. We are on the eastern fringes of this influence and winds are coming in from the north. A few pop up thunderstorms in the highlands and mountains possible this afternoon and tomorrow.

The metro will start seeing a few stray t-storms by Friday and then more widespread this weekend as a cold front moves into the mid-atlantic. Some storms could be strong on Saturday and then temps cool into the upper 80s.
