Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Hot and humid, t-storms likely Sunday

An area of high pressure off the coast will bring hot and humid air across the mid-Atlantic for the upcoming weekend.

Overnight:

Wind: Southwest 5-10 mph
Saturday:
Partly Cloudy, Very Hot
Highs: 89°-94°
Wind: Southwest 10-15 mph
Sunday:
Scattered PM T-Storms
Highs: lower 90s
Wind: Southwest 10-15 mph

Bermuda high pressure anchored off the coast will keep temperatures in the70s overnight. Highs Saturday will jump into the lower to middle 90s by afternoon with added humidity making if feel a few degrees warmer. A few showers and thunderstorms will develop mainly west of I-81, but a few may linger further east by evening. Sunday brings a better chance for showers and thunderstorms. Some storms may contain heavy downpours and gusty winds.

Above average temperatures are expected Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday followed by a cold front late Thursday.
