Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Scattered thunderstorms end heat wave

A cold front will bring widely scattered storms overnight and into the day Sunday.

Overnight:
Isolated Showers & Thunderstorms
Lows: 70°-78°
Wind: West 5-10 mph
Sunday:
PM Showers and Storms
Highs: near 90°
Wind: West 5-10 mph
Monday:
Thunderstorms Likely
Highs: 85°-90°
Wind: Northeast 5-10 mph

Showers and thunderstorms will pepper radar during the overnight hours. Some storms will have the potential to bring bursts of heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning. Temperatures will fall into the 70s overnight marking an end to the heat wave.

The frontal system will stall a bit on Sunday keeping showers and storms in the forecast. Daytime highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Slightly cooler temperatures arrive for the start of the work week with highs generally in the upper 80s.
