We have been waiting for the large area of high pressure, over the Western Atlantic, to begin drifting westward...toward the mid-Atlantic coastline. That drift has begun. This movement will not end the continuous flow of warm, humid air from the south. It will shift it a bit to the west, towards the moutains. As a result, our daily chances of rain will drop from likely to possible but at the same time, temperatures will climb. It will become uncomfortably hot and humid. And it will stay that way through early next week. While we are groaning at the prospect of highs in the lower 90s, check out the incredible heat out west:
If you are heading to the Delmarva Beaches this weekend, the weather trends are looking good for you. Partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the 80s are forecast for the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th of July. This forecast is predicated on the area of high pressure, described above, behaving as I discussed.
