A Heat Advisory goes into effect for D.C., Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church from noon until 7 p.m. for heat index values around 105º.

Today:
Mostly Sunny, Very Hot & Humid
Highs: Mid 90s
Heat Index: Near 105º
Overnight:
Few Clouds, Muggy & Very Warm
Lows: 70s
Wind: NW 3-5 mph
Tomorrow:
Hazy, Very Hot & Steamy
Highs: Mid to Upper 90s
Heat Index: Around 105º

Yesterday was the hottest day thus far this year when the mercury peaked at 96º degrees downtown! Expect more of the same with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s through Friday and feels like readings from near 105º midweek to near 110º Thursday and Friday. We will not really be able to count much on a cooling afternoon shower other than a slight possibility mainly west along the mountains. A cold front arriving Saturday will bring our greatest chance for scattered thundershowers and some could be severe. Temperatures drop to seasonable levels, upper 80s for Sunday. Stay cool and have a great day!
