Washington DC Weather: Another hot and humid day with showers and thunderstorms

Today could be the 8th consecutive day with high temperatures at or above 90 degrees.

Relief from the persistent heat and humidity is on the way...on Thursday. But until then, more muggy weather with increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms. Chances are set at 70 percent today, 60 percent tomorrow and 40 percent on Wednesday. Highs today and tomorrow will be in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees and should remain in the upper 80s on Wednesday.

Regarding temperatures, we have had 7 straight days with high temperatures at or above 90 degrees. Brian van de Graaff reported early this morning that Andy Woodcock from the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Sterling had passed along a new Washington weather record. Last week, from Monday night through Friday night, the overnight temperature never dropped below 80 degrees. Five consecutive nights of temperatures at or above 80 degrees at Reagan National Airport has never been observed before.
