Look for a mostly dreary Sunday with overcast skies, periods of light rain into the afternoon, and highs only near 70.

This Afternoon:
Overcast, Periods of Light Rain, Cool
Highs: 69-73
Rain: 90% Chance
Mostly Cloudy, Chance of a Shower
Lows: 60-66
Rain: 40% Chance
AM Fog, Chance of PM Rain/T'Storm
Highs: 75-80
Wind: S 5-10 mph

Light to moderate rain continues to overspread much of the Washington area this morning, all courtesy of a low pressure system to our southeast.  Some heavier rain has fallen in Blue Ridge counties to the NW and in areas south of the city:  Fredericksburg has had almost 2" and Culpeper 1.4".  Look for the showers, the fog, and the mist to continue through the morning hours and into the early afternoon before the low gradually moves offshore.  But while the rain should subside, skies remain overcast and temperatures won't rise much above this morning's low in the upper 60s.

There will be a slight chance of a shower overnight and some patchy fog developing near dawn. Monday promises to be slightly warmer and more humid as August shows signs of returning from its summer vacation!  Highs tomorrow should reach  the upper 70s - still cool for the month - but showers and thunderstorms are possible.  Thereafter, high pressure comes back and with it partly to mostly sunny skies and hotter days.  From Tuesday onward, daytime highs in the mid 80s to near 90 will remind that school may be starting , but summer isn't quite ending!  Enjoy your day.
