High pressure over the mid-Atlantic states produced a beautiful day across the region. Skies will remain partly cloudy through tonight with comfortable evening temperatures…just about ideal for any outdoor activities. That high pressure center will moves over the Western Atlantic tomorrow and will direct warmer and more humid air across our area. It is going to be very warm and muggy throughout the Labor Day Weekend.

The biggest questions regarding the weekend forecast are the probability and timing of thunderstorms. An upper level disturbance will provide a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms on Saturday. Increasing instability and lift in the atmosphere will produce slightly higher chances of thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon. Then on Monday, a cold front will approach later in the afternoon, This will produce a likelihood of thunderstorms across many parts of the area. Cooler and drier air will arrive for the middle of next week.
