Cloudy skies and cool temperatures will rule our weather world again today, but peeks of sun possible, especially west of the metro.

This Afternoon:
Mostly Cloudy, a few showers
Highs: Upper 70s to around 80
Precipitation: 30%
Tonight:
Cloudy with light showers/mist
Lows: Low 70s
Rain: 20%
Thursday:
Partly Sunny with a few thunderstorms
Highs: Mid 80s

More clouds than sun can be expected again today. Cloudy skies mean cool afternoon temperatures. Yesterday, we only made it up to 74 degrees. That was the coldest high temperature recorded on that date. More in ABC7 Meteorologist Alex Liggitt's blog here. http://www.wjla.com/blogs/weather/2013/08/record-highs-and-record-lows-on-the-same-day-sort-of--19526.html Today we have a slightly better chance of getting a peek of sunshine. In fact, check out our weather bug camera in Wintergreen, VA. There's a hint! :)

The cloud deck not quite as thick today and any sun will help our temperatures stay a little warmer with a gradual warming trend the rest of the week. Unfortunately we can't kick the cold front through here soon enough. It will linger to our west into the weekend now. The timing of it's passage is still uncertain, but looks like it will take its sweet time until late in the weekend. We'll continue to fine tune the weekend forecast as it gets closer.
