Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Gloomy Sunday, hotter weather on the way

A weak coastal low will bring clouds and a better chance for showers to the mid-Atlantic on Sunday.

Overnight:

Lows: 60s
Wind: East 3-8 mph
Sunday:
Mostly Cloudy, Showers (60%)
Highs: 72°-77°
Wind: Northeast 5-10 mph
Monday:
Scattered Thundershowers (40%)
Highs: near 80°
Wind: Southeast 3-8 mph

An area of low pressure will slowly drift off the coast of North Carolina overnight allowing for showers to develop. Areas south of Fredericksburg are likely to see periods of heavier rain. Overnight lows will fall into the 60s.

Showers will dot radar Sunday under cloudy skies. Highs will only be in the 70s. If you like hotter temperatures, your wait won't be long. Highs by the middle of the week will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
