Hit the repeat button, today looking much like Sunday, but changes are ahead.

This Afternoon:
Partly Cloudy
Highs: Low 80s
Wind: N 5
Increasing Clouds, a chance of showers by morning
Lows: Mid-upper 60s
Wind: S 4-8

Highs: Low 80s
Rain: 50%

High pressure is bringing us pleasantly cooler than average temperatures and plenty of sunshine. It won't be lasting long, though.  This morning, we dropped down to 63 at Reagan National Airport. It's the coolest temp we've had in more than a month.

Monday Morning Low Temperatures

Despite ample sunshine this afternoon, highs will barely  make it over 80 degrees.  This would be considered a "classic" mid-September day climatologically.  Changes begin this evening already as high pressure starts moving to our east.  Winds will change to the south and bring in more humidity.  Skies will become cloudy overnight with a chance of showers along a developing warm front towards morning.  After some early morning showers, we should have a dry break and then chances of showers and a few thunderstorms after noon on Tuesday.  The front will stall out near us and disturbances in the upper levels will keep chances of showers and thunderstorms through the end of the week.  By Friday, a cold front should sweep through and bring us all a return of the sunshine by the weekend.
