Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Summer heat set to return midweek

A few showers and thunderstorms Monday will give way to hot and humid conditions by Tuesday.

Scattered showers will dot radar overnight under cloudy skies. Areas of patchy fog may develop during the early morning hours as temperatures fall to the 60s inside the Beltway and upper 50s in the mountains. Temperatures will warm to near 80 degrees Monday with a chance for afternoon showers and a few isolated thunderstorms.

High pressure will build across the mid-Atlantic Tuesday allowing for a significant warm-up. Highs will approach 90 degrees. Hot and humid conditions will last until at least Friday.
