A slow moving cold front will inch its way toward our area later today and tonight. That movement will help generate afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. I think there is the potential for numerous, heavy downpours. An isolated, severe thunderstorm is not out of the question. It will feel like August, as well with high dew points and air temperatures.

The front will slowly push out of the metro area by early tomorrow morning. This will allow a turn to west/northwesterly winds and that will usher in less humid air behind the front. the forecast problem is we do not know exactly how far south of Washington the cold front will make it before becoming stationary. Therefore, we will call for improving weather this weekend but maintain low end chance for isolated thunderstorms mainly south and southeast of Washington.
