Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Coolest night in months ahead

Clear skies will allow temperatures to plummet overnight.

Tonight:
Clear and Unseasonably Cool 
Lows: 40s to lower 50s 
Wind: Light
Wednesday:
Mostly Sunny and Beautiful
Highs: lower 70s
Wind: Southeast 3-8 mph
Thursday:
Partly to Mostly Sunny
Highs: upper 70s
Wind: South 5-10 mph

Under clear skies, temperatures will fall into the 40s overnight, with even colder temperatures in the mountains. Lower 50s are likely inside the Beltway. Sunshine returns Wednesday with cool, but very pleasant temperatures. 

A cold front will approach Saturday bringing increased chances of showers and isolated thunderstorms. The chances will increase during the afternoon hours and temperatures rebound into the lower 80s. Some computer models indicate showers may linger into Sunday morning.
