The clouds keep hanging tough all through the day today and even into the overnight hours. A few peeks of sunshine here and there but for the most part, skies will remain overcast today and for your Thursday. A cold front to our west will be taking it's time approaching the area and will keep showers at bay until late on Thursday. We could see a few isolated sprinkles around the area this evening, but most of the activity will come tomorrow afternoon/evening. Despite our clouds, temperatures will still warm into the lower 70s with southerly winds keeping us in the warm sector.
This weekend still not looking too bad. Feeling more Fall like with temperatures in the in the mid to upper 60s. A piece of energy tries to move into the region on Saturday night into Sunday but most of (if any of) the activity will stay South of DC.
The tropics remain quiet today, but 59 year ago this week Hurricane Hazel battered the east coast, including the D.C. area. Nice blog by Alex Liggitt on the significance and history of the storm here.
