The surge of late-summer heat and humidity has ended. A strong cold front sweeping across the mid-Atlantic states will deliver heavy rain, gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms. Isolated severe thunderstorms are also possible. Atmospheric conditions suggest an isolated tornado or damaging straight line wind gusts cannot be rule out. Rainfall could be in excess of one inch.

The rain will end tonight as the front moves towards the Atlantic Coast. High pressure will deliver sunshine and gusty breezes tomorrow. By Wednesday, we will be watching an area of low pressure slowly move up the coast. This system is associated with former Tropical Storm Karen. Heavy rain is not a concern at this time. Rather, we expect a few days of unsettled, cool weather with party to to mostly cloudy skies at times and a few showers.
