Washington D.C. Forecast: Coldest Thanksgiving in over 10 years

Winds will diminish through the day but temperatures will continue to be cold with highs well below average.

High pressure will move into the region from the west today helping to diminish the winds, but also allowing for continued cold temperatures. This morning, lows will be in the 20s, and areas of black ice will be possible so take care while traveling. Highs should only reach the mid to upper 30s by the afternoon. There will be a fair amount of sunshine through the day but possibly a few clouds in the northwestern suburbs this afternoon.

Tonight will be clear and cold with lows in the teens in the western suburbs to mid 20s in town. Black Friday will continue to be cool with highs near 40 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy to start the weekend with highs in the low 40s. Sunday will be the mildest, yet still 5-10 degrees below average with highs in the mid 40s under partly sunny skies.
