What a gorgeous day!  This is what it looked like at sunrise in D.C. this morning.

Sunrise over D.C.

A mid level deck of clouds helped bring some nice color early on.  There will be fewer clouds this afternoon and a nice warm breeze from the south. High pressure has moved offshore and puts us in the warm sector now. Highs will be near to above average today in the mid 60s!  A cold front that has brought some snow to the upper Midwest will arrive early Thursday to our area and trigger some showers.  They should arrive before sunrise and last through late morning.  After noon, skies begin to clear back out the breezy and cooler conditions return.  We'll drop back into the mid 50s for highs on Friday and then moderate under high pressure this weekend.  We are near peak fall color in Northern Virginia. Just took a glimpse at the Virginia Department of Forestry website and it looks like great color around the region for the weekend with sunshine and temps int he upper 50s to lower 60s. You can click here for an update from them later this week.  I might also want to mention that if you're feeling more "Christmassy," our Alex Liggitt wrote a blog here on how you can track the Capitol Christmas tree on it's journey from Washington State, to Washington, D.C.  It's on the way, and kinda fun. The kids will like it too!
