The next area of freezing rain is overspreading the area right now. Conditions will become very icy, very quickly. The Winter Storm Warning has been expanded to include D.C., Alexandria, Arlington, Prince Georges and Anne Arundel Counties. There is a chance for heavy icing overnight everywhere in the warned areas. This may cause trees to fall or power outages overnight into Monday morning. Closer to the Bay, freezing rain is expected to change to rain, but in the D.C. area and points north and west, heavier icing will be possible. Temperatures will finally warm above freezing Monday morning with highs back into the low 40s.

Another chance for some light snow is possible Tuesday as a system passes by to the southeast of D.C. Right now any snow looks light with cold temperatures in the mid to upper 30s Tuesday. Cold weather will be the story of the week with highs in the 30s possibly through next weekend.
