Our area will remain under the benign influence of a large area of high pressure through the day tomorrow. It will keep conditions clear and cold tonight and mostly sunny tomorrow. By tomorrow afternoon, as winds become more southwesterly, temperatures will climb into the lower 50s and a few clouds will cross the region. On Sunday, an area of low pressure will be moving across the eastern Carolinas and eventually off the mid-Atlantic coast Sunday night. This means rain will be likely on Sunday and may in fact be heavy at times, in spots. As the system heads out to sea, dry weather will return on Monday

. Later Monday afternoon or evening, a cold front will cross the area. This will lead to partly to mostly sunny and colder conditions for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
