Cold front passing through area with rain and falling temperatures.

Today:
Periods of Rain. Falling Temperatures
Temperatures: 50s to 40s
Precipitation: 80%
Tonight:
Rain Continuing
Lows: 30s
Precipitation: 90%
Saturday:
Partly Sunny  and Cold
Highs: Upper 30s/ Lower 40s

BUT the concern is centered on what will happen around the area on Sunday.

A new area low pressure will approach our area on Sunday and Sunday night as a cold air mass will be entrenched east of the Appalachians. The precipatation will over run the cold air on the surface and in the lowest levels of the atmosphere. The best scenario at the moment…according to the most recent guidance…is for snow to begin during the morning hours then mix with and change to sleet. The majority of the precipitation will fall as sleet and freezing rain EXCEPT in those locations where ground level temperatures remain above 32 degrees. Southern Maryland, the Eastern Shore and Bay front locations on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake may have predominantly rain because temperatures may remain above freezing. There is the potential for enough sleet and freezing rain to disrupt travel and create hazardous conditions.
