The warm temperatures are over and cold weather is back with a wintry end to the weekend.

This Afternoon:
Cloudy with Periods of Rain
Temperatures: Falling into the 40s
Rain: 80%
Rain at times, ending before dawn
Lows: Mid to Upper 30s
Wind: N 5-10
Morning Clouds, afternoon Partlly Sunny
Highs: Low 40s

We're in for wild weather ride the next 48 hours with a little bit of everything!  We started today with temperatures in the 60s. A cold front crossed our region about 7:15 this morning and temperatures dropped about 10 degrees very quickly.

We will continue that drop through the day and end in the 40s.  We will also have round one of moisture today. Occasional rain can be expected, but most likely late the afternoon and evening.

Rain ends before you wake up on Saturday, so get your errands done on that day.  That's because a winter storm will shape up for the area on Sunday.

Computer Projection of Possible Snowfall on Sunday Morning

At this time, I expect to start Sunday with snow showers. There could be some accumulation. There is a 75 percent chance of getting an inch of snow in D.C.

The snow will transition to freezing rain and even some sleet in the afternoon. Temperatures will warm enough late on Sunday for a change over to all rain.

It's possible that driving will be dangerous, especially Sunday afternoon.  The storm is still 2 days away, so there may be changes. Stay tuned to Storm Watch 7. Check here and your Stormwatch7 app for frequent updates.
