Temperatures finally pushed above freezing in many places today. This is due to the fact the center of the unseasonably cold high pressure system has moved off to the east and winds have turned more southerly. And that is just the beginning. We are at the beginning of a noticeable warming trend that will continue through the weekend.
Skies will be partly cloudy tomorrow and Saturday with highs in tomorrow in the lower 40s and the upper 40s on Saturday. On Sunday, a cold front will cross the area with a chance of rain but, as a bonus, temperatures could briefly reach the lower 50s early Sunday afternoon. After that, colder but not dramatically colder air will return next week.
During the first few days of next week, the cold front will take up residence on the southern boundary of the mid- Atlantic States. At the same time areas of low pressure will develop along that boundary and create opportunities for rain, some snow and possibly freezing rain in places on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. While there is a potential for significant amounts of precipitation, there is no way, this far ahead of time, to be specific on precipitation types, predominance, impacts and exact locations to be most affected. Enjoy the warming trend and we will keep you well informed about next week’s weather over the next few days. That is all.
