Skies will stay partly cloudy overnight as temperatures fall to the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Thursday will start dry,  but clouds will thicken midday. Light rain is likely to develop by afternoon before changing to a wintry mix by evening and eventually snow overnight.

Accumulations will be limited to a dusting in Fredericksburg, possibly an optimistic inch in the District and higher amounts north of Baltimore and toward Philadelphia. As cold air is rapidly drawn into the system, moisture will be limited and the snow will end.

The majority of the day Friday will be cold with very gusty winds. Temperatures will fall into the 20s and winds will make it feel like the single digits and teens.

Friday night into Saturday morning may be the coldest night of the winter with lows in the teens in the District and possibly single digits in the far western suburbs. Highs will reach the mid 30s Saturday and warm to the mid and upper 40s Sunday.
