WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY 10pm tonight thru 10am Saturday for Frederick and Carroll Counties and westward in MD and for Clarke, Warren and Page Counties and westward in VA. The Eastern Panhandle of WV is also included. Snowfall of 2-3 inches possible in these areas.

An area of low pressure moving towards the Applachians will move eastward tonight, passing just south of the VA/NC line. It will spread rain and possibly snow across our area. In areas around and west of I-81 it will be all snow. By the time the precipitation ends around noon tomorrow, we expect an inch or less accumulation. The storm will intensify rapidly once it hits the Atlantic Coast. It may lead to a full-fledged blizzard for coastal Maine and the Canadian Maritime Provinces. Here, that intensification will lead to strong, gusty winds and colder temperatures by tomorrow afternoon. Sunny but cold weather is forecast for Sunday. We could hit 60 degrees before the end of next week. That is my Valentine’s Day gift for you.
