Temperatures will warm today and remain mild through the weekend, but shower chances exist Friday through Sunday.

This Afternoon:
Partly Cloudy, Milder
Temperatures: Mid 40s to Near 50
Wind: S 10 m.p.h.
Friday:
Mostly Cloudy, Showers Likely
Highs: Low 60s
Wind: S 10-15+ m.p.h.
Saturday:
Mostly Cloudy, Not as Warm, Showers Likely
Highs: Mid 50s
Wind: E 5-10 m.p.h.

A new record low was set at Dulles Airport this morning at 15 degrees, breaking the old record of 17 set in 2001. A record low was tied at BWI Marshall at 20 degrees also set in 2001. Temperatures will moderate this afternoon near the 50 degree mark. Sunny skies will give way to some clouds later this afternoon. Tonight will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with lows in the mid 30s to low 40s.

Showers will become possible by the tail end of the morning commute Friday. Temperatures will be warmer by the afternoon, approaching the lower 60s. The weekend forecast doesn’t look much better, with showers possible again Saturday with highs in the low to mid 50s, and a lingering shower possible along with breezy winds on Sunday with highs in the mid 50s. This is all in response to a wave of low pressure riding along Friday’s frontal boundary and hanging around through the weekend. At least it’s not snow.
