This Afternoon Forecast

Tomorrow, winds from the West Southwest ahead of an approaching cold front will bring the strongest warm air advection of the week and bring high temperatures into the mid 60s.  But, big time changes are ahead, as that front approaches on Wednesday.  Expect wet weather to return to the area Wednesday afternoon.  Temperatures will be warm enough with the low tracking to our west that it will all be of the liquid variety to begin. However, much colder air follows and there may be a brief period of snow mixing in, especially northwest of D.C.  overnight Wednesday/Thursday morning. Ground temperatures should be warm enough that nothing much sticks in the metro, but cold and blustery conditions return for Thursday. Highs won't get out of the 30s.  It will be a brief blast of cold with temperatures recovering pretty quickly into the 50s on Friday and near 60 again by Saturday.
