A potent storm will bring the potential for severe storms late today and then falling temperatures.

This Afternoon:
Mostly Cloudy with Showers and Storms
Highs: Around 70
Wind: S 10
Tonight:
Evening storms and WINDY
Lows: Low-Mid 20s
Wind: NW 10-20+
Thursday:
Mostly Sunny, Windy and Cold
Highs: Mid 30s
Wind: NW 15-25+

A strong low pressure storm is moving towards the Mid-Atlantic that will bring dramatic changes in the next 12-24 hours. 

 



This Afternoon

We are in the warm sector and despite cloud cover, D.C. should warm up into the upper 60s to around 70 degrees.  Showers will be possible this afternoon, and then late today into the evening, a line of thunderstorms is expected to march across our region.  There is a slight risk that these storms will produce damaging winds.  Temperatures will plunge behind the front and it will become very windy. A wind advisory is in effect from 6p.m. until 11a.m. Thursday for the area.  Temperatures will drop as much as 40 degrees between today's high and tomorrow morning's low.  The highs will be back to near normal already by Friday.
