A cold front will approach the region from the west this evening bringing a chance for showers. Ahead of it, the area is stuck in a bit of a marine layer as easterly winds are bringing cool, moist air over the region leading to mostly cloudy skies. Radar is showing a line of showers and storms moving into West Virginia at this time, but should diminish in intensity prior to reaching the D.C. area later this afternoon. Current thoughts are a few showers moving in by 4pm. The cold front itself isn’t expected to push through the area until after sunset making for another chance for showers. Temperatures will hang in the 50s over the next few hours before reaching around the 60 degree mark to lower 60s later this afternoon. A wide range is expected with highs around 70 near Fredericksburg and south and highs in the 50s near the Mason-Dixon line. Tonight, skies will become partly cloudy and winds breezy with temperatures in the 40s. Highs Saturday and Sunday will reach the lower 60s. Winds Saturday will be gusty out of the WNW around 10-20 mph.
