Another glorious weekend in the Nation's Capital! High pressure is delivering us sunshine, seasonal temperatures, and low humidity. Enjoy it because changes are on the horizon. Tomorrow, June 1st, marks the first day of meteorological summer and the start of the Atlantic hurricane season. Tomorrow's weather will be almost a carbon copy of today; however, with an easterly component to our winds, highs will only reach the upper 70s. Our average high to end the month is now 80°.
It will certainly feel more like summer-time come early next week. As the same area of high pressure overhead now drops to the southeast, our winds will turn out of the south-southwest and will pump in a hotter and more humid airmass. Monday will be a transition day with highs in the low 80s. Temperatures soar to around 90 degrees by Tuesday. A cold front could trigger some strong thunderstorms late Tuesday afternoon and evening. The rest of the week remains a bit unsettled and definitely on the warm and muggy side. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
