Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Showers and drizzle end overnight, some sun Friday

After a cool and damp day, improving conditions are on the way.

Scattered showers and pockets of drizzle will fade from radar overnight and into the early morning hours. Patchy fog is likely to develop, but not cause any significant travel delays. Temperatures will generally hold in the 50s.

Skies will slowly clear Friday with a little sunshine by late afternoon. Daytime highs will rebound to the 70s with winds out of the northeast. The upcoming weekend will be nearly perfect; sunshine, low humidity and highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Hotter and more humid conditions arrive next week.
