After Saturday's unseasonably cool start to the new season, today will gradually look and feel more like summer!  With gray skies, an easterly wind, and scattered showers, yesterday's high temperatures barely made it into the low 70s.  Rainfall amounts were miniscule - just a trace at DCA and BWI Marshall and only 0.14 inches at Dulles - but the gloom of the day was inescapable: the longest day of the year turned out to be short on appeal!

And while this morning started out with areas of fog and drizzle, the day holds the promise of partly sunny skies.  Clouds should begin to break up with highs reaching the upper 70s; more sun can be expected to the north where the influence of the high pressure system will be most apparent.  And while not quite up to summertime standards - the seasonal norm for the date is 86 - it will conclude the first weekend of summer with a more summer-like day.  High pressure will give us a rather pleasant start to the week with partly sunny days, highs in the mid 80s, and moderate humidity levels both Monday and Tuesday.  A front on Wednesday however, will usher in hotter times and chances of showers and thunderstorms.  Look for highs around 90 from midweek on through Friday.  Enjoy your Sunday!
