High pressure has provided a very pleasant day with scattered clouds and seasonable temperatures. Over the next couple days, as high pressure settles just offshore, southerly winds will pump in very warm, very humid and increasingly unstable air. Isolated thunderstorms may develop west of our area through this evening, with a little better chance of storms Tuesday…a few may make it east of the Blue Ridge.

On Wednesday, we expect showers and thunderstorms to become more numerous, more widespread and heavier. A strong flow of very warm and humid air will be pushed across our area as a cold front approaches from the northwest. The result will be heavy thunderstorms…some with torrential downpours and the chance of isolated severe storms. By Thursday the front will have passed through our region. Skies will be partly cloudy. It will still be quite warm but somewhat less humid…for the time-being, at least.
