A large area of high pressure continues to hold strong over the western Atlantic. It is pumping hot and humid air across the entire mid-Atlantic region. In this environment, we have seen a few showers and thunderstorms develop. A stronger line of thunderstorms moving across the Michigan and Indiana may weaken later tonight as it moves in our direction but our team believes a few storms may hold together as the line crosses the mountains and heads for the Chesapeake Bay and then eastward. It will remain very warm and humid later tonight and that may aid in continuing the life-span of some of these storms.

Temperatures will be near 90 degrees tomorrow as a cold front pushes our way during the day. This front will produce an 80% probability of showers and thunderstorms across the area. On Friday, we may get a brief break from the rain and 90 degree heat. But over the weekend, the front may inch back northward as a warm front and create a cooler and rather rainy day on Saturday with isolated thunderstorms. Warmer temperatures are forecast under partly cloudy skies with only a chance of isolated thunderstorms Sunday.
