Oppressive humidity give way to some hefty downpours...

Limited Sun, Sultry, PM T'Showers/Few Downpours
Highs: 85°-90°
Rain: 70% Chance
Showers Taper, Partly Cloudy
Lows: 62º-70º
Wind: NW 10
Becoming Mostly Sunny, Breezy, Less Humid, Still Warm
Highs: 85°-90°
Wind: NW 10-15

It is already steamy to start and any sunshine will boost temperatures quickly into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees while dew points, which directly measure moisture content in the atmosphere, will increase as well. As a cold front marches toward the region from the west, showers and storms will develop mid-afternoon and evening, and some of the storms could contain very heavy rainfall. The front will be slow to cross the area, finally doing so overnight. Behind the front, our winds will become northwesterly, inviting less humid weather into the region Thursday and Friday. It will still be rather warm both those days with highs in the upper 80s.

Here's a cool thought during our warm stretch: Our recent weather web poll asked you to select the the coldest temperature recorded at Reagan National this winter. Well the answer was 6 degrees the morning of January 7th. The high that day was 21°, a mere 22 degrees below average!
