Washington, D.C. weather forecast: Strong storms likely Wednesday afternoon

Showers and thunderstorms will dot radar overnight with a better chance for strong to severe storms Wednesday.

Overnight:
Showers and Storms End, Patchy Fog
Lows: 65°-73°
Wind: South 2-5 mph
Wednesday:
Partly Sunny, PM Storms (80%)
Highs: 85°-90°
Wind: Southeast 6-12 mph
Thursday:
Showers and Storms (60%)
Highs: near 85°
Wind: South 5-10 mph

Warm and humid conditions will continue overnight with temperatures falling to the 60s outside the Beltway and lower 70s in the District. A few thunderstorms may develop.

Thunderstorms will become more numerous tomorrow and some are likely to become strong to severe with gusty winds, heavy downpours and frequent lightning. The probability of more thunderstorms will remain high through Thursday and Friday. How about some good news for the weekend? Right now, it appears drier and slightly cooler air will be in place for Saturday and Sunday.
