A frontal boundary is lingering across the region with warm and muggy conditions all day long. A large complex of thunderstorms associated with a low pressure system has been producing damaging winds and severe weather across parts of the Midwest. Today, it is bringing severe storms to the Ohio Valley today. It will track toward the Mid-Atlantic and reach D.C. later tonight. While a few showers and storms are possible this evening, the main event happens overnight through about 7a.m. A few storms could produce damaging winds. The Storm Prediction Center highlights most of our region as having a 5-percent chance of wind and damaging thunderstorms within 25 miles of any point.

While we wake up to wet weather early Thursday, it will quickly exit. Skies become partly sunny Thursday afternoon as high pressure moves in and the air will be less humid. Plenty of sunshine to wrap up the week. It gets a bit warm and sticky by the weekend with storm chances returning late Sunday.
