A passing cold front in combination with a tropical system led to drenching storms last night. As Hurricane Arthur (A Category 2 Storm) bears down on the Outer Banks with hurricane-force winds, flooding rains and storm surge several feet high, we will see our rain taper off.
As Arthur accelerates off the coast later this morning, weather conditions locally will rapidly improve from west to east across our area and then the entire mid-Atlantic region…with the oceanfront areas the last to improve. Expect a cool, drying breeze to usher in the end of the humidity and return refreshing air to the region. The l ow 80s this evening, falling into the 70s for fireworks, will feel amazing. Open the window tonight and let the comfortable air in. And as for the weekend, couldn’t ask for much better in July as sunshine prevails with highs in the 80s as humidity remains in check! Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
