As we turn the calendar to July, southerly winds continue to pump heat and humidity into the area. Today promises to be hotter and more uncomfortable. The mercury will soar into the 90s with heat indices, a combination of heat and humidity representing a “feels like” temperature, in the upper 90s. With this oppressive heat and humidity, a few thunderstorms are certainly possible in the afternoon and evening. A cold front will slowly approach the area Wednesday. In advance of the front, some of the hottest and most humid weather is expected with the mercury soaring into the middle 90 degrees and heat indices over 100 degrees. The approaching front will also bring enhanced chances of drenching showers and t-storms late in the day on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Since the front will move at a snail’s pace, we will keep the threat of a few thunderstorms in Thursday’s forecast, too, with only minor relief as highs reach near 90.

ZZZZZ

The forecast for Independence Day promises to be a bit unsettled as a tropical depression, off the Southeast U.S. Coast, crawls up the Atlantic Seaboard. We certainly expect this to bring a considerable amount of clouds with the chance of a few showers, but at this point the highest likelihood of unsettled weather is east of DC along the coast, while areas further west see more in the way of sunshine. The good news is that temperatures should be a bit cooler. Stay tuned as we iron out the details of this all-important forecast. Have a great day!
