Heat, Humidity, Severe thunderstorms, and a tropical system... we're tracking it all this week, D.C!! We kick off with the heat today as temperatures top 90 degrees. It will feel like upper 90s to near 100 at times this afternoon. A cold front and associated upper trough will trigger severe storms in the eastern Great Lakes to Tennessee today.
By tomorrow, it will be on our doorstep and more widespread thunderstorms can be expected. A few could cause damaging wind and produce hail. Temperatures will start to cool down starting Friday into the mid 80s. Friday could also get a bit rough at the Mid-Atlantic Beaches. A tropical depression has formed near Cape Canaveral, Florida and is forecast to graze along the Atlantic coast this week. Here is the latest track from the National Hurricane Center. The Depression is expected to strengthen to a Category One hurricane "Arthur" as it approaches the Outer Banks and then curve Northeast away from the Mid-Atlantic. If it stays on the expected track, D.C. will have no wind impact, but we'll get some clouds and rain, mainly east of I-95. We'll keep you updated through the holiday. But the weekend is looking good!
