With the severe storms this past week knocking out power in many communities, be sure to think of friends and relatives that might still not have power so they can stay or hang out with you during the main heat of the day. The high temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Record highs may be tied or broken Saturday and Sunday as they are both 98 degrees from 1999. It will be close, but I think we will end up a degree or two shy. Either way, it will still be dangerous outside and I imagine heat illnesses will be common over the next couple of days. Heat illness is the number one weather related killer over flooding, lightning, and even tornadoes, so be sure to take heat and heat waves very seriously.
Been watching you since you were new at channel 9 I think it was in the late 80's, and as always you do a fantastic job!, especially for us "weather nerds" out here!
I just wanted to let you know that the Maury Elementary School weatherbug reporting station that is about 8 blocks from my home is reporting 102 degrees F at 2:32 PM today, Saturday June 7th. Please include Maury School in your on air high temps in the metro area! Its HOT out there! wow!
Thanks Doug!
