We have also seen very high wind gusts reaching 50 mph last night at Reagan National Airport and more recently gusting to 68 mph this afternoon at the beach in Ocean City, MD and Bethany Beach, DE. This system bottomed out in a 985mb low last night and since has moved further to the southeast of the region, with pressures beginning to rise early this afternoon. The the rising pressure, winds should begin to subside and rain should finally begin to taper off overnight. It will be quite chilly out with lows in the 40s throughout the region. A major improvement is expected for Tuesday with highs in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
A problem down the road may be another chance for rain towards the end of the week. At this point in time, we are not overly worried as we will have a good three days to soak up this rainfall, and the system towards the end of the week is anticipated to be much weaker, with rainfall totals only around a quarter to a half of an inch.

As of 2pm today my rainfall total for this storm was 8.05". That's the most I've recorded in a 24 hr period and surpasses a the record at my house of 6.5" set in June 2006.
