Trip to see the Cub Scouts
posted by Alex Liggitt: Producer/Meteorologist

I visited a group of Cub Scouts at Union Mill ES in Clifton, VA.  Oddly enough that school also happened to be the school that my mom taught at, so it brought back memories of her teaching as well as me in Scouts!

I showed them our Storm Chaser which you can see, is decked out with weather instruments we use to relay information to the public.  I had a great time talking to them about storms, lightning, hurricanes, tornadoes, and about the different instruments.  They also even knew the difference between a weather Watch and a weather Warning, which I think is great for their age as I don't believe many of my friends know the answer to that question.  I had a blast while I was with them and hopefully they learned something from the experience!

Doug: I've looked at the upcoming forecast. Is it safe to plant my seedling in the garden after tomorrow night's chance of dropping below freezing?
