Tropical Storm Fay continues to churn over inland Florida and move ever so slowly to the north. It still packs winds of 60 mph and our WeatherBug sites have picked up multiple reports of wind gusts to 50 and 60 mph, and rain totals over 5 inches just today. Rain totals for this system through the day could amount to up to 15 inches locally as it continues to track across the state towards the Atlantic Ocean. The new track is located below which moves it out to sea briefly before pushing it west across the Georgia-Florida border and weakening it.
With a strong area of high pressure moving into our region through the day today and hanging overhead through the end of the week, this will be the reason that Fay will be pushed to the west. There is no way it will be able to break through the ridge and affect our area. That is too bad, as we are down around an inch and a half for the month and we are not expecting rain through the weekend and maybe not even through the first half of next week.
