    A 3-day-old harbor seal pup has been rescued on New York's Long Island. The female pup was struggling against the surf at The Sands, a banquet facility. The pup is 2½ feet (0.6 meters) long and her umbilical cord was still attached.

    Authorities were tipped off about the man after his wife noticed strange material in her refrigerator and searches for "ricin" on her computer. FBI agents entered the home wearing white hazardous materials suits and ventilation masks.

    Four firefighters searching for people they thought might be trapped in a blazing Houston motel and restaurant Friday were killed. At least five other firefighters were hospitalized in the deadliest blaze in the 118-year history of the Houston Fire Department.
