    Jordan Zimmermann and the Nationals limited the Cincinnati Reds to one hit for the second straight game in a 1-0 victory on Friday night. It was the first time the Reds managed just one hit in consecutive games since July 5-6, 1900.

    The first round of the NFL draft delivered an enormous portion of beef, with 18 teams devouring linemen from the opening pick of offensive tackle Eric Fisher by Kansas City to center Travis Frederick by Dallas at No. 31.

    The Ottawa Senators clinched a playoff berth by beating the Capitals 2-1 Thursday night. Alex Ovechkin got his NHL-leading 32nd goal for the Caps, which tied the game 8½ minutes into the third period.
